The Halfbike is best suited to fit and active people with good sense of balance. So if you fit that description chances are that you’ll fully enjoy the experience. Most people are able to get the basics and ride in a straight line in under 10-15 minutes. From then on riding will gradually start to feel less of a struggle and more fun. Having a little patience and determination will surely help. Have in mind that it’s more challenging than it may seem from the videos. However it only takes a few days of practice for most people to be able to ride with such an ease.

Easily, there are several closed loops in the frame and handlebar, where you can use an ordinary cable-lock for bicycles and lock it to a fixed object.
What is the Warranty on a Halfbike?
Warranty period

*In case of non-warranty problems with a Halfbike, within the warranty period, the customer has the option to purchase replacement components at 75% of the original price.
Warranty terms

The warranty is considered void if any of the equipment has been abused or otherwise used outside of its intended application, specified by the manufacturer. Does the Halfbike ship fully assembled?
No, it’s not fully assembled. In order to save some space, the rear truck and the handlebar come detached from the rest of the Halfbike. Everything you need to get it up and running comes in the box though including manual and tools. It should take you no more than ten to fifteen minutes and doesn't require any special skills. This is a link to our assembly tutorial.
Does the Halfbike have brakes?
Yes, the brakes are integrated into the truck and operate the rear wheels. Because the Halfbike has a relatively short wheelbase and high centre of gravity it has brakes only at the rear. They’re effective to control your speed. However, the brakes won’t be able to stop you suddenly like on a bicycle for example.
Is the Halfbike suitable for commuting long distances?
Most people find it best for distances up to 5 km / 3 miles. If you’re up for a good workout you can ride much further :)
How fast can a Halfbike go?
A typical cruising speed on flat ground is around 20kph / 13mph However it can go faster if the rider pedals harder :) Consider riding a Halfbike as being a little slower than riding a regular bicycle.

If you’re not completely satisfied with your Halfbike you can return it. Just notify us within two weeks from the date you received it and we'll assist you with the return. Note that we're based in Sydney, Australia and all Halfbikes ship from here. How does the Halfbike perform uphill?
The Halfbike is best suited to flat ground. However it can manage going up hills as well especially if the rider is fit. We can tell from experience that the three-speed model is fine for inclines up to 7-8% but anything over that will be a struggle.
Does the Halfbike have gears?
Yes, it has a hub with three internal gears by Sturmey Archer. There's also a small shifter mounted on the handlebar to switch between gears.
What is the height / weight range the Halfbike is best suited to?
We can put the comfort range in between 150 and 195 cm (4'11" to 6' 5") and the maximum rider weighing is 95 kg / 210 lbs. The Halfbikes are currently available in 3 sizes: S, M and L. You can find more info about sizes on the product page under 'what size'.

Specifications

Colours

The Halfbike comes in five different color combinations:

Black (all black)

White (White frame and natural colour handlebar)

Pink (Pink frame and black handlebar)

Lime (Lime green frame and black handlebar)

Mint (Mint blue frame and black handlebar)

Frame
The frame is laser cut and made of aerospace grade aluminum. This makes it light and yet strong enough to endure years of riding. Once we have the frames ready the frames are sent them to a paint shop where they powder coated. The paints that are used are from the automobile industry so durability is guaranteed.
Crankset and Pedals
The crank is made of aluminum, has a hollow axle and is used primarily for downhill bikes. In combination with high end pedals and a custom bottom bracket that the manufacturer developed to meet the greater stress endured by a Halfbike makes for a rigid and reliable system.
Tyres
Both tyres and tubes are supplied by Schwalbe - yet another well renowned European manufacturer.
Truck
The manufacturer went to great lengths to design and test a truck that fits the Halfbike like a glove. At first they used a standard mountainboard truck for the job but despite choosing one of the best trucks available on the market its limitations soon became obvious. This was changed to one that they custom designed and that functions much better with an integrated brake system.
Handlebar
The manufacturers use high quality water resistant beech plywood for the handlebar. It’s lighter compared to aluminum plus it gives a nice flex to the handlebar that in the opinion of the inventors improves the ride. They also developed a special technology to impregnate all plywood pieces to ensure they stay intact rain or shine.
Gears
Hub with three internal gears by Sturmey Archer - a premium European manufacturer with over a century of experience in making internal gear hubs. The manufacturer is confident that this is one of the best hubs on the market and will endure years of use with practically no maintenance whatsoever.
